Overview of Financial Sector Issues and Analysis Course: Lessons from Recent Crises and Current Priorities for Finance Practitioners and Policy-Makers

About the course:
This year the course focuses on "Lessons from Recent Crises and Current Priorities for Finance Practitioners and Policy-Makers." Lecture, case studies and panel discussion will cover a broad spectrum of issues surrounding this theme. These issues include:
- the role of the financial sector in the economy
- policy lessons from the financial crisis
- the role of the government in the financial sector
- bank risk management models
- bank resolution mechanisms
- the future of bank regulation
- macro-prudential regulation and stress testing
- capital markets
- pension and payment systems
- promoting access to finance
In each session, participants have opportunities to ask questions and engage in discussions with renowned scholars and policy experts, who identified the critical questions related to each topic, explored the analytics of the issues, and shared lessons from various countries’ experiences.
Target audience:
The seminar is intended for mid-level officials from central banks, ministries of finance, and financial regulatory agencies in developing countries, as well as staff involved in financial operations from international development organizations and the private sector. Some prior knowledge of financial issues is expected. The course is conducted in English.
