Course Overview:

The 2013 Overview Course of Financial Sector Issues focuses on "Financial sector priorities and policies in a volatile world". Since 2007 the world economy has gone through the "Great Recession" and the "Euro Zone Crisis".  Policy makers around the world are being confronted with constant volatility and uncertainty. The course will discuss the challenges and priorities faced by policy makers in the financial sector around the world.

Featured thought leaders include Charles Calomiris (Henry Kaufman Professor of Financial Institutions at Columbia University Graduate School of Business), Anthony Saunders (John M. Schiff Professor of Finance, Stern School of Business, New York University), Simon Johnson (Ronald A. Kurtz Professor of Entrepreneurship Professor of Global Economics and Management, MIT) and Thorsten Beck (Tilburg University), etc.

Target audience:

The seminar is intended for mid-level officials from central banks, ministries of finance, and financial regulatory agencies in developing countries, as well as staff involved in financial operations from international development organizations and the private sector. Some prior knowledge of financial issues is expected. The course is conducted in English.
