David Craig

David Craig was recently appointed as the World Bank’s Country Director for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti. A New Zealand national, he joined the Bank in 1984 and has broad experience across many countries in eastern Europe, northern and western Africa and the Middle East. David’s management experience covers the full range of Bank products (lending/grants, advisory services, and technical assistance) and includes joint activities with the IFC. He has held various positions including Country Director in West Africa from 2001 to 2005, covering Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Sao Tome & Principe, and Togo. His most recent assignment was Country Director for West Bank and Gaza in the Middle East and North Africa Region. David Craig holds a PhD in Economics.
