Nikolas Win Myint

Nikolas Win Myint comes to the World Bank from the United Nations, where he worked on issues of governance with the UN Secretariat in New York and UN agencies in the field. Most recently, from 2007 - 2009, he worked for the Department of Political Affairs, supporting the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General in the implementation of the Secretary-General’s Good Offices Mandate on Myanmar, focusing in particular on efforts to improve socio-economic governance. 

From 2005 - 2007, Nikolas was based in Myanmar as Country Program Manager of the UN Inter-Agency Project on Human Trafficking, coordinating closely with UN agencies, NGOs, civil society and Myanmar authorities. He has also worked for the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Myanmar, where his responsibilities included assisting the launch of a poverty alleviation partnership with local and international NGOs, the central Government and ethnic minority authorities in the country’s northeastern border regions. 

Nikolas holds a BA in Political Science from Middlebury College, an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago, and is a PhD fellow in Governance and Policy Analysis at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
