SAR DM Grantees speak out about their winning projects on Nutrition
In light of its increasing mandate to address undernutrition in South Asia, the World Bank, with its partners, held a South Asia Regional Development Marketplace (SAR DM) on Nutrition under the theme: “Family and Community Approaches to Improve Infant and Young Child Nutrition.”
The SAR DM on Nutrition supported the testing of innovative ideas across South Asia to deliver improved nutrition services to pregnant and lactating women and children under two.
Twenty-one civil society organizations were competitively selected from 1,000 proposals to receive grants of up to $40,000 each, for a period of 18 months, to implement their projects.The videos clips below feature interviews with four of the grantees from Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Their projects focused on improving breast feeding in Afghanistan, using cell phone technology to offer lactational counseling in India, addressing severe acute malnutrition in Pakistan through Lady Health Workers, and nutrition radio programming using three generations of women in Sri Lanka Care, respectively.
