Good blog Laura. It provides another example of a too common reality in low and middle income countries: as they grow wealthy and develop their road infrastructure little attention is being paid to road safety to prevent road traffic injuries, premature mortality and long lasting disability. And this is not and should not be the sole responsibility of the transport folks. Country experiences clearly demonstrate that road safety requires a concerted multisectoral effort. Besides the focus on interventions, road safety management systems to coordinate the multisectoral efforts are needed to sustain the impact of interventions.
