Private sector development
Dave Lawrence is based in Jakarta, where he works as Senior Operations Officer for the Multi Donor Fund for Aceh & Nias (MDF). He began working for the World Bank Group in 1996, when the International Finance Corporation (IFC) sent him to provincial Ukrainian cities to set up business advisory centers. After seven years managing private sector development programs in the former Soviet Union, he moved to IFC headquarters to support global advisory services operations. In 2006 he joined the East Asia & Pacific department in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, where he managed IFC's post-Tsunami program. Later, he became IFC's Resident Representative in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Dave has managed a variety of advisory services programs targeting private sector development, including regulatory reform, small business development, agribusiness supply-chains, and corporate governance. In addition to his work for the MDF, he writes for IFC's Public-Private Partnership department and the World Bank Group's SmartLessons program.
