Somehow, the idea of MOOC in Africa is fascinating. But for the time being it is not likely to lead to good results for reasons of insufficient infrastructure. Even in countries like Kenya, Senegal and Nigeria power breaks are frequent, which makes even communication by e-mail difficult. What about countries like the central African Republic. Power is rare.

In many African countries IT-knowledge is not well developed, but a high computer literacy is necessary before MOOC can be introduced successfully. In South Africa, after the end of apartheid, there were plans to carry out even primary school education online. This in order to solve the problem of low schooling standards. A lot of money was spent in vain. It never worked.

Nevertheless, I love the idea of introducing MOOC in Africa, combined with a good training of teachers/professors there and ideally with many cooperation programs.
