Agreed: It's about the content, not the container (as well as the connections that are enabled -- to people, experiences, perspectives, etc. -- and the related context for learning).

The 'container' or device is important, of course (especially if it 'doesn't work' and/or is really expensive), but so much, too much, of the focus is on the equipment. That said, we have fetishized books for centuries, so the fact that we do so with our shiny new devices today doesn't really represent a break with the past.

The specific devices we use are in some ways terribly important ... and in many other ways: fundamentally not that important at all.
