Fadia Saadah

Director, Health, Nutrition and Population
Prior to her appointent as Director, she served for as the Senior Regional Advisor for Europe and Central Asia, where she led work on a number of fronts including regional operations, risk management, financial instruments and RAS, as well as enhancing partnerships with the EC. Before that she served as the manager for Project and Program Financing at the Operational Policy Group.

Fadia led the team that conceptualized, developed, and rolled out Program-for-Results (P4R), the first new financing instrument the Bank had introduced in over 30 years.  She also led a comprehensive effort to modernize and reform the investment lending instrument to name a few.  She was also a Sector Manager of HNP’s East Asia and Pacific Region for about 6 years, leading the development of a strategy for the health sector and for HIV/AIDS work and coordinating the initial response to avian influenza and helped build a strong program for HNP in the region. Fadia has Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and Master of Health Sciences and PhD degrees from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA.
