Sofía Guerrero Gámez

Senior Transport Engineer
Sofía Guerrero Gámez works in the Transport & ICT Global Practice based in Lima Country Office, where she is providing advice on engineering and project management dimension of transport projects in the LC6 CMY countries, managing a portion of the Bank’s transport portfolio in work programme and contributing to analytical studies. She joint the Worldbank after 18 years working for Ferrovial, one of the world's leading infrastructure operators and municipal services companies, committed to developing sustainable solutions, with an extensive background in the construction of underground infrastructure projects. After 9 years working in Madrid for underground projects such as Madrid Metro Line 8 and submerging the M-30 ring road, she continued her professional career in London, where she worked for Crossrail project among others. Sofía is a chartered civil engineer from Spain, where she studied her masters in Civil Engineering, at the University of Granada. She holds an Master in Business Administration (MBA) by the Instituto de Empresa (IE), and she is currently studying a Poverty Reduction Master by SOAS (School of Orienbtal and African Studies), University of London.
During this period in the UK, she collaborated closely with the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Colegio de Caminos in Spain. Sofia was recognised in 2016 by the WICE (Women in Construction and Engineering) awards as the “Best Woman Civil Engineer”, in appreciation of her contribution to the industry.
