Ellysar Baroudy

BioCarbon Fund Manager, World Bank
Ellysar Baroudy has a background in environmental science and has been working at the World Bank in Washington for five years. She is currently managing the BioCarbon Fund and serves as the team leader for the ten Kyoto funds. Before that, Baroudy was working for various international organizations where she provided environmental technical assistance.
Since taking over management of the BioCarbon Fund, Baroudy has been focusing on afforestation and reforestation activities under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Another important aspect of the BioCarbon Fund is to develop other forestry and land use activities not included in the CDM, such as soil carbon and reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. The BioCarbon Fund also develops methodologies and tools for the land use and forestry sector that become part of the public domain.
