The need for reform of medical education in the former Soviet Union is compelling. Even now, many medical schools are teaching material that is devoid of evidence - see: The excellent work that Patricio and his colleagues have been doing offers a model for neighbouring countries. The task is great and we need to be realistic about how long it will take to yield results in terms of improved quality of care. However, this is a very good start.
