Inside the Web is a blog exploring the intersection of the web, international development, and the World Bank, written by Bank staff that work on online strategy, editorial, content, governance, and technology.

China Gets a Facelift

We're excited to announce the debut of the World Bank's new China site following last year's successful data.worldbank.org release and new homepage. This work is part of a two-year phased overhaul of worldbank.org.

The new China section, the result of consultations and planning by the Bank's Web Program Office, aims to make Bank information more accessible while providing multiple avenues for users to engage with the Bank. As a result, you'll find improved navigation, a more logical organization of content, tighter social integration and a cleaner, more inviting design.

By focusing on results, the new China section aims to better reflect the Bank's knowledge, people, and its impact in a more meaningful way. Some of the key features of the redesign are data feeds, easy content aggregation and a consistent look and feel. This was made possible by the Bank's newly implemented web content management system.

China/East Asia & Pacific was chosen as the pilot for Countries, and we're already working on improvements. We plan to make those enhancements quickly; with a final template for Countries in place, the remaining country sections will launch over the next year. The Bank's Topics sections will follow.

In the meantime, check out our FAQ and send us your feedback on the new China pages. Please let us know what you think by posting a comment below, and stay tuned for more to come.
