African bond markets are developing fast and the work done in establishing sovereign ratings and lengthening yield curves is starting to pay off. Building market infrastructure including regulation, ratings, market institutions and above all knowledge and human skills is an excellent way for "honest broker" international institutions to continue to support this. More African issuers can benefit from the current low cost of debt and come to markets, particularly as banks are more risk-averse in the present climate. It woudl be good if the World Bank and others with access to leading research can publish regular updates to these reviews and analyses of the African fixed income markets.
