The idea that government should not be more complex than the governed is unrealistic in our society. This quote applies to the foundation of a democracy, a government by the people, but in our modern day society, there are few citizens that can actually understand the decisions made in our governenment and many do not even bother to vote. A governement has to be as strong as its strongest link, not the other way around.
