Abhishek Saurav

Economist
Abhishek Saurav, an Indian national, is an Economist with the Global Investment and Competition Unit of the World Bank Group’s Macro, Trade and Investment (MTI) Global Practice. He specializes in evidence-based policy design for private sector development and measurement of development impact using rigorous empirical methods. He has over a decade of experience in investment climate, job creation, and sector competitiveness policies, spanning low and middle-income economies in ECA, EAP, SAR, LAC, and MENA.
 
He currently leads measurement and evaluation tasks for two global development programs – the Improving Business Environment for Prosperity (IBEP) and the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi). He also provides technical leadership on analytical studies including global surveys and impact evaluations.
 
His doctoral research focusses on development impact, migration and entrepreneurship, and is currently a PhD candidate at the George Washington University. He received his Master’s degree from the George Mason University and Bachelor’s degree from the University of Delhi.
