Afra Rahman Chowdhury, a native of Bangladesh, is currently working with South Asia’s Social Protection team and with Social Inclusion Cluster of Social Development Department as well. She has MA in Economics and Sociology and Ph.D. in Sociology (Demography) from Brown University. Prior to joining the Bank, she served as a teaching fellow, instructor, and research assistant at Brown University, covering topics ranging from data management to internal migration in Guatemala. Afra also served as a research associate for the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies.
