Mr. Ahmad Shaheer Shahriar, Deputy Minister for Programs in the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD)
Mr. Ahmad Shaheer Shahriar has been the Deputy Minister for Programs in the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) since May 2015. He was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Business Management) from Preston University, Islamabad, a Master’s in Business Administration (Management) from the London Business College, and a MA in Conflict, Development and Security from the University of Leeds, as a Chevening scholar.
 
Mr. Shahriar has extensive experience in the Afghanistan government, including positions as the Director of Mines for the Ministry of Mines; CEO of the Afghanistan Land Authority (Arazi); Director General of Private Sector Development, Ministry of Commerce and Industry; Director of Strategic Communication, MRRD, and Project Manager in the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.
 
In addition, Mr. Shahriar has worked for a number of international donors, including the World Bank, as a Consultant for Social Protection and Labor Global Practice, a Manager of Program and Public Affairs for a USAID project, and as a Political Affairs Officer at the British Embassy.
 
Mr. Shahriar has represented Afghanistan as a panel member in a number of negotiations, including the Ainak Copper Mines negotiation between the Ministry of Mines and the Government of China, for trade issues in Turkey and for the Afghanistan and Pakistan Trade Agreement.
