Aparnaa Somanathan is a senior economist in the World Bank's East Asia and Pacific Human Development Unit. She has worked on health financing and health systems strengthening issues, in relation to policy and program implementation in a range of countries including Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Prior to joining the World Bank, she co-led a 14-country study of equity in health care in the Asia-Pacific Region. She holds a doctoral degree in International Health Economics and Policy from Harvard University.
