Avani Mani Dixit
Disaster Risk Management Specialist
Avani Mani Dixit is Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Specialist with the World Bank’s Social, Urban, Rural and Resilience Global Practice. Avani joined the Bank in 2015. His main responsibility is to provide operational support to housing reconstruction and hydromet projects in Nepal. He is also involved in other initiatives in the Bank such as partnership on disaster-linked safety nets, resilient transport, Open Data for Resilience Initiative, and GeoNode. Avani has experience in implementing projects on climate change adaptation, institutional and legal framework, recovery needs assessment, and emergency preparedness and response. Prior to joining the World Bank, he worked for UNDP in Nepal and Switzerland for eight years as the Disaster Risk Management programme analyst where he was responsible for providing oversight and technical support to different countries on disaster projects and related aspects. Avani has Master’s degree on information management from a consortium of universities in Europe (University of Reading (UK), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and University of Carlos III Madrid (Spain)) and Bachelor's degree from Thammasat University, Thailand.
