Brian Simpson is a fire analyst and modeller with the Canadian Forest Service, which is part of Natural Resources Canada, working on a variety of topics related to wildland fire research, specializing in fuel mapping. Brian has been with the Canadian Forest Service since 2003, originally focusing on afforestation and carbon accounting, before moving on to a position with the Canadian Wildland Fire Information Systems group. Prior to that, he worked in a variety of forestry positions for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. Brian has an MSc in Forestry, where he studied the effects of industrial forest activity on water quality, and a BSc in Forestry with a minor in Parks and Wilderness, all from the University of New Brunswick. In his spare time, Brian enjoys building and flying small airplanes. He lives in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
