Eliana Carranza is a Senior Economist and Technical Adviser of the Gender Innovation Lab, a gender-focused impact evaluation group based at the Africa Region Chief Economist Office. She joined the Bank in 2011 as Young Professional and served as Country Poverty Economist for Ethiopia. Eliana’s fields of interest are development, labor and demographic economics. Her research centers on issues of gender and household behavior. She has conducted work on a number of countries in South Asia, East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. At the Gender Innovation Lab, her impact evaluation work supports the design of interventions in the agricultural, financial, private, and social protection sectors to address the underlying causes of gender inequality in economic outcomes. Eliana holds a MPA in International Development and a PhD in Economics from Harvard University.
