Françoise Clottes was appointed the Country Director for Sri Lanka and the Maldives with effect from August 2013.
Françoise joined the World Bank in 1994 as a Young Professional and has had 19 years of service. She is an expert on infrastructure development, with extensive operational experience in telecommunications, information and communication technologies, energy, water and sanitation.
In the first part of her Bank career, she held various positions in the Sustainable Development Network and in the Private Sector Development practice, including as Manager of Private Sector Development and Infrastructure and as Sector Manager for Energy, Water and Sanitation in the Middle East and North AfricaRegion.

Over the past six years, she has been deployed successively as the Country Manager for Morocco, based in Rabat and the Country Director for the Caribbean Countries in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region, responsible for 14 countries.

Françoise has a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University, a Master in International Economics from Universite Pantheon-Sorbonne, and a Master in Public Administration from Institut D'Etudes Politiques de Paris.
