Senior Financial Sector Specialist
Juan Buchenau is a Senior Financial Sector Specialist working in the Latin America and the Caribbean region of the World Bank. Has an MSc from the University of Hohenheim (Germany). As lead advisor of the German consulting firm IPC and its Washington affiliate FFI he supported several institutions in Latin America, Africa and Eastern Europe to expand their services for low income households. In the United States, he served as Executive Vice President managing the lending program of Microfinance International Corporation, a private firm providing financial services to immigrants and their families abroad. He has participated and coordinated missions in several countries to assess the financial markets serving poorer urban and rural households as well as MSMEs and to propose strategies for their deepening.
