Naoto Kanehira, a Senior Digital Development Specialist based in Manila, joined the Bank in 2010 as a Young Professional. He has previously held corporate roles at the Bank on strategy, organization, operations policy, budget and human resources, and operational roles in Europe and Central Asia, South Asia and Africa on research and operations on technology, entrepreneurship and productivity, and promoting multi stakeholder partnerships on science, technology, innovation (STI) and digital cooperation through UN, OECD and G20. Prior to joining the Bank, Naoto co-founded a mobile internet software start-up in late 1990s in Japan, worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. advising public and private sector clients on digitalization, growth and sustainable development in Asia and researched computer science and organizational behavior at MIT Media Laboratory. Naoto holds an MPA from Harvard University and an MSc in Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
