Peter Wrede is a senior financial sector specialist in the Finance, Competitiveness & Innovation Global Practice of the World Bank Group. He has worked in insurance and reinsurance since 1990. Peter's technical and leadership roles at German and international insurers and reinsurers included product design, pricing, reserving, marketing, risk management, underwriting policy, and Islamic insurance. In 2007, he joined the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance to develop microinsurance in Africa and Asia. He continued his focus on microinsurance at the International Labor Organization prior to joining the World Bank in 2012. Peter’s work at the World Bank has centered on inclusive insurance, agriculture insurance, supervisory capacity building and supportive regulatory regimes.
