Ranya Abdel Baki
Ranya is a development economist with over 12 years of experience in finance and economic and social development. A consultant based in the World Bank Group country office in Cairo, she focuses on the management, coordination and administration of the Egypt Development Marketplace grantees.

Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Ranya worked as a Program Manager at MicroFinance Transparency, an international U.S.-based NGO that promotes the welfare for poor micro-entrepreneurs through facilitating microfinance pricing disclosure. Preceding that, she had worked at Sanabel - the Microfinance Network of Arab Countries - for six years. During her tenure, Ranya assumed several roles beginning from Transparency and Research Manager to Deputy Executive Director and finally Executive Director of the network for three years. Ranya has also worked as a Credit Analyst and Supervisor for five years at National Societe Generale Bank and as an Urban Economist and Development Specialist at EcoConServ-Environmental Solutions.

She has undertaken a number of consultancy assignments assessing the social impact and financial sustainability of development projects in Egypt. Experience in microfinance includes coauthoring the Arab Microfinance Analysis and Benchmarking Report for four consecutive years, training on financial analysis for microfinance, and lecturing on microfinance in the American University in Cairo. She is currently a Board Member with the Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Network. Ranya holds a MSc. in Urban Economic Development from University College, London (UCL).
