Rebecca Jean Gilsdorf
In 2016, Rebecca joined the World Bank as a Young Professional based in Washington DC. She has been working in Africa – including both Sub-Saharan Africa and North Africa – primarily on Ghana, Ethiopia, Morocco, Egypt, and Angola and has also worked with the Water GP’s social inclusion team, on issues of citizen engagement, gender and inclusion. She also works as part of the Bank’s global urban sanitation team supporting projects across the globe and developing resources to support teams on a range of sanitation related topics – e.g., condominial sewerage, shared and public toilets, small town wastewater treatment and reuse. Rebecca is a civil and environmental engineer by training, with a BS from UW-Madison and MS from Stanford University, and she is pursuing a PhD at Stanford University, where her dissertation focuses on urban and peri-urban water supply and wastewater treatment/reuse in East Africa.
