Samia Msadek joined the East Asia and Pacific Region as Director, Strategy and Operations, effective July 1, 2020. A Tunisian national, Samia began her career at the World Bank Group in 1998 as a financial management specialist in the Rural Development, Water and Environment Sector in the Middle East & North Africa (MNA) region. She has since held several positions including as Manager, Financial Management in both the MNA and EAP regions, Director of Operational Services and Quality Department in the Europe & Central Asia (ECA) Region, and Acting Director, Strategy and Operations in the ECA Region.

In 2014, she was appointed as Practice Director in charge of Public Resource Mobilization and Management in the Governance Global Practice. She led a team of 220 professionals across the six World Bank regions and engaged with partners on the global public goods agenda.  In 2017, she was appointed Director, Strategy and Operations in MNA, and in January 2019 moved to her position of Director, Strategy and Operations in the South Asia region.

Before joining the Bank, Samia spent 15 years working in accounting, auditing and business consulting, with assignments in Tunisia, Middle East and Europe, including 12 years with Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting, where she was a partner.  

Over her career, Samia has worked extensively with public and private institutions and international organizations to enhance public financial accountability and adherence to international standards of accounting and auditing as part of global efforts to build a stronger international financial architecture.
