Sanjay Kathuria
Lead Country Economist
Sanjay Kathuria is the World Bank’s Lead Economist for Bangladesh, based in Dhaka since September 2009. He has been interacting extensively with the intellectual, business and youth community in Bangladesh in a bid to understand the country better and to engage in discussions on economic reforms that would lead to sustained and inclusive growth. Earlier, he has worked in the Latin American and East European regions of the Bank, and worked on a diverse range of less developed and middle income countries. Prior to joining the World Bank, he was a Fellow at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations in New Delhi. He studied at the Delhi School of Economics and did his doctoral dissertation from Oxford University. His research interests include issues relating to economic growth, international trade and trade policy, competitiveness, technology development, fiscal policy, and financial sector development. He has to his credit several books and academic as well as popular articles on these topics.
