Sara Troiano is a Senior Economist at the World Bank Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice. Sara leads the regional East Africa Girls’ Empowerment and Resilience (EAGER) initiative, supporting the economic empowerment of adolescent girls and women in Eastern and Southern Africa through financing, technical assistance, and knowledge exchange. Previously, she served as Task Team Leader in Mozambique and Lesotho. Sara has been working on employment and education projects since 2012 and has gained specific expertise on youth and gender issues through her experience in Latin America, Europe, and Africa. She published novel research on education, social policies, and demography. She holds a MSc in Development Economics from Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, a MSc in Sociology and Demography from Pompeu Fabra University, and a degree in Economics from Bocconi University.
