Sharmila Bellur is a consultant with the Energy and Extractives Global Practice of the World Bank. She currently works on the Global Tracking Framework that tracks progress of countries on energy access, energy efficiency, and renewable energy under Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7), and the Regulatory Indicators for Sustainable Energy, under which global indicators are established and measured across the three pillars of sustainable energy. Sharmila has worked as an energy attorney in Bangalore, India. Prior to joining the World Bank, she was a researcher at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and ClearView Energy Partners, in Washington DC. She has consulted for private and nonprofit clients, including NRG Energy, Bipartisan Policy Center, Resources for the Future and UC Berkeley’s American Jobs Initiative. Sharmila received a master’s degree in public policy from the University of California at Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in law from University Law College, Bangalore.
