Volker Treichel has been a Lead Economist in the Office of the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank since December 2010. From 2007, he was the Lead Economist for Nigeria. During this time, he published the book "Putting Nigeria to Work -- a Strategy for Employment and Growth". He also led the first subnational Development Policy Operation in sub-Saharan Africa in Lagos State as well as the initial engagement with the Niger Delta. Prior to 2007, Volker was at the IMF, including as mission chief for Togo and resident representative in Albania.
