Nathalie Abu-Ata is Operations Officer where she launched and implemented the CMI’s external communications and partnership strategies, including media outreach and consolidated the Center’s communications team. She also substantively contributed to the work and partnership building of the Environment and Water Cluster as Coordinator jointly with the AFD, the EIB and Plan Bleu and in connection with the 6th World Water Forum, March 2012, Marseille. She spearheaded the launch of a new program on water supply optimization and innovations in the region and she conducted a series of regional consultations and analytical work on water innovations and young entrepreneurs in the region. She was significantly involved in the preparation of the three-year Regional Governance and Knowledge generation GEF Project together with Plan Bleu, the implementing agency of the GEF grant. Since January 2012, she is the World Bank Task Team Leader for the project based in Marseille. While at the World Bank, and prior to joining the CMI, she collaborated on a multi-donor technical assistance program aimed at promoting sustainable water management in MENA. In addition, she was a core member of the World Bank team preparing the 2007 MENA water governance flagship report “Making the Most of Scarcity”. Nathalie also worked at the UNDP and with local NGOs in the Palestinian Territories. Her graduate studies at Science-Po, Paris focused on political science and the contemporary Arab world. She holds a second master’s degree in Economic Development from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, New York.
