Professor of development economics at the University of Göttingen in Germany
Stephan Klasen is a professor of development economics at the University of Göttingen in Germany. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and has since held positions at the World Bank, King's College (UK), and the University of Munich. His research focuses on issues of measurement, determinants, and policy implications of poverty and inequality in developing countries, with particular focus on gender inequality. Apart from his research, he has also done policy work for international organizations including UNDP, the World Bank, OECD, ADB as well as developing country governments and aid agencies. He was Co-Managing Editor of the Review of Income and Wealth from 2004-2012.
