Great to see this blog point out that expensive sewerage systems are not necessary. Sri Lanka is a good example: most of the population uses pit latrines that are emptied by local authorities. The system is not perfect, but works well enough that the prevalence of fecal-transmitted disease is very low.
Sri Lanka's system should be studied and improved upon for use elsewhere.
