Maybe the summers where you live are hotter than ever. Maybe there’s a kid who works in your neighborhood restaurant when he should be at school instead. Have you ever stopped to think about the repercussions of climate change or poverty in your life? It can be so subtle that quite often we don’t even notice.

Today was a special day at COP 16: A day dedicated to youth and future generations. We think it is important to recognize the role of young people in the UNFCCC negotations, since we are the ones who are going to experience the consequences of climate change on a large scale.

We started the day with a relaxing dynamic in order to meet and keep in touch with someone from the Conferene of Youth (COY 6) before starting the exciting and busy week that is ahead. We found a person who was not from our own delegation and exchanged information and ideas so as to be in contact and start a new friendship.

Last night I attended a panel discussion called, “A Fair Financial Deal for Climate Change?” The panel was made up of senior climate change experts, who discussed the issue of financing to help developing countries tackle climate change, as the world prepares for COP 16 in Cancun, Mexico.
