This year’s annual World Bank conference will be held in my beautiful home city of Istanbul. This year’s annual summit brings together government, civil society, and key financial and business figures to discuss the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness. And while we may not be participating directly in the discussions, youth involvement is still crucial!
Youth are a key demographic in Turkey and will play a large role in its development in the coming years. In the run-up to this year’s conference, I’ll be presenting the youth angle for this very important conference through this blog.
First, I’ll be writing straight from the streets of Istanbul, probing some of this year’s conference themes and asking for your feedback on what the topics mean for you.
Second, we know that youth from around the world are often connected by similar hopes and similar challenges. I’ll be interviewing young people in Istanbul to get their opinion on today’s most pressing development related issues.
Third, we’ll be looking at Turkey’s dynamic youth, what kind of work is being done for them, by them, and what lies ahead.
And last, a lot of important figures will be at this year’s conference. This blog will be your chance to get your questions heard! You’ll be able to submit questions that you would like asked to some of the most influential decision makers in development, and I’ll choose the best ones to include in the interviews scheduled to take place.
Remember, this blog will grow stronger with input from you! Feel free to contribute, submit questions, and talk about ongoing challenges in your part of the world right here. So…let’s get started!
P.S. Visit the Annual Meetings site for more information about the meetings.
