The world has been facing a lot of natural disasters lately, what with devastating earthquakes in Haiti  and Chile , and now the flooding in Pakistan . Pakistan is no stranger to hardship. From poverty to illiteracy to political instability, the country has faced all sorts of development challenges since its creation in 1947.
The people of Pakistan certainly seem to have an indomitable spirit, but right now they really need help. According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, the floods have killed around 1,600 people and severely affected 14 million more. The World Bank has committed $900 million  in financial support, and many other international organizations and NGOs are hard at work in the relief efforts.
