Young Professional, Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR)
Brenden Jongman helps lead the Innovation Lab's analytical and cross-support activities related to disaster risk assessment. Previously, Brenden worked with the Labs team on disaster risk assessment, hazard mapping, early warning systems, and risk reduction strategies. Prior to joining GFDRR, Brenden worked as a researcher on flood risk management and climate change adaptation at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He also worked with the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre in Uganda, Kenya and Mozambique on the use of forecasts for decision making, and as a researcher with the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. A Dutch national, Brenden holds a BSc in earth science and economics from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, an MSc in management from London Business School, and a PhD in water and climate risk management from the Institute for Environmental Studies in Amsterdam.
