These high subsidies on gas result in weak awareness on the real costs for energy and in low transparency. People have no possibility to compare the real costs of energy consumption with alternative measures. As gas for households is sold at such low prices nearly all of these efficiency measures don’t make any sense from the financial aspect. As a consequence people’s motivation to invest in energy efficiency or to use the high solar radiation for warm water preparation is blocked.
