Fully agreed. Taxing telecommunications services can have a significant effect on the "business model" of operators and service providers, impacting investment decisions, prices of services and equipment, and ultimately the geographic coverage of broadband networks and the affordability of Internet services. Governments generally have a key role in accelerating the diffusion of telecommunications / broadband services across the territory by adapting taxation to achieve the twin goals of accelerating sector growth whilst ensuring the necessary revenue for the Treasury and efficient operation of the regulatory authority. Increased sector profitability and indirect financial benefits from accelerated industry growth and diversification would contribute to strengthening the competitiveness and diversification of the economy, especially in developing countries, and to make contributions to tax revenues of the State more sustainable.
