The UN's Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) has published its 'World Urbanization Prospects: The 2014 revision ' this week. The planet's urban population is estimated to total 3.9 billion, or 54% of the world's population. DESA projects that, on current trends, 2.5 billion more people will be added to the urban population by 2050, with nearly 90 percent concentrated in Asia and Africa.
The Indian Government will now provide four new vaccines  free of cost to combat rotavirus, rubella, polio and Japanese encephalitis.
