Thank you Elizabeth for a very refreshing conversation. I am in total agreement. One of the biggest challenges faced in the developing contexts is the socio-economic portrait that constrains education as a result of a lack of social and intellectual capital. However, in South Africa during the recent Grade 12 external examinations some provinces made enormous progress. Progress is possible if there is a good idea of what the challenges are. South Africa has started systemic testing in Grades 3, 6 and 9 and once again there is a shift in the results. A lot is possible in the formative years if learning is supported in the classrooms. Thanks again for your very refreshing and positive message. We must change the education landscape and make a significant impact on the lives of children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds
