Andrea Velásquez is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Colorado Denver. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Duke University. Her research examines how economic and policy shocks—including violence, immigration enforcement, and extreme temperatures—affect labor markets, human capital, health, and migration. A central focus is documenting how women are disproportionately affected by these shocks. Her current projects explore these pathways with the goal of producing policy-relevant evidence to help reduce the widening of gender gaps.
