Education Specialist

Claudia Marie Muriel Lopez is an Education Specialist with the World Bank’s Education Global Practice. She currently leads a diverse education portfolio spanning secondary, technical and vocational education (TVET), and post-secondary education in Cabo Verde. In West Africa, Claudia works on system-strengthening reforms, supporting teacher professional development, curriculum and assessment improvements, skills, and governance. She advises counterparts on program design, implementation, and monitoring to improve learning outcomes and expand equitable access, with a focus on the most vulnerable learners. Earlier in her career, she led and co-led the World Bank education portfolio in various Latin America and Caribbean countries, including Haiti. During more than seven years in Latin America and the Caribbean, she helped double the World Bank’s education portfolio in the sub-region, which enabled to launch innovative engagements - especially in skills development - across multiple countries. Claudia holds degrees from Sciences Po, HEC Paris, and the University Pierre and Marie Curie.
