Evan Girvetz

Evan Girvetz is a Principal Scientist at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, where he leads global and African regional programs on climate action and innovation scaling across agrifood systems. He has over 20 years of experience working across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, with a strong track record in linking science, policy, and finance to deliver impact at scale. His work focuses on climate risk management, digital agriculture, climate-smart agriculture, and unlocking public and private finance for resilient food systems. He serves on the leadership teams of the CGIAR Scaling for Impact program and the World Bank–supported AICCRA project, working with governments, international financial institutions, local organizations, and private sector partners to translate climate science into decision-ready investments and action. He holds a PhD in Ecology from the University of California, Davis, and has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
