Izaskun Gaviria is a seasoned global health and development leader with more than two decades of experience managing high-impact programs in complex and resource-constrained settings. As a Senior Fund Portfolio Manager at The Global Fund, she currently oversees multi-country initiatives and large-scale national portfolios, including a $300 million regional malaria elimination initiative and a $300 million country program in Pakistan.
Her expertise spans strategic portfolio management, policy development, financial oversight, and cross-sector partnerships. Izaskun has demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams, negotiating with high-level stakeholders, and aligning investments with national and global health priorities.
Prior to her current role, she held positions at UNDP, UN Women, Médecins Sans Frontières, and Oxfam, where she led programs in HIV/AIDS, humanitarian assistance, and gender policy across Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
She holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University and recently completed a Women’s Leadership Program at Oxford University.
