Melike Egilmezler is a sociologist with the Human Rights Trust Fund at the World Bank. Previously she focused on the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) for investment lending, specifically on labor and working conditions and project accountability to local communities. Before joining the World Bank, Melike was an international trade negotiator for her home country Türkiye at platforms including the WTO, OECD, and EU, and led commercial diplomacy and market-access initiatives. She holds an MA in International Relations and International Economics from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a PhD in Sociology from the Middle East Technical University, with a thesis that explored satire and freedom of expression.
